Painted vs. Stained Timber Shutters
At Twoshade Shutters & Blinds, our timber shutters are made from either Poplar or Basswood which are both known for their durability, strength, and beautiful finishes when painted or stained. If you opt for painted timber shutters, you receive Poplar shutters that have high-quality 2 pac paint in the colour of your choosing that is often used across kitchen cabinetry. This will leave your shutters with an immaculate finish that also provides superior hardness and flexibility to the shutters, an important feature for the weather we experience in Brisbane.
Our stained timber shutters are made from 100% basswood and are hand-selected by our team who manufactures and designs all of our shutters right here in Brisbane. This ensures that you will receive the best pieces of timber that can offer an ‘even-grain’ finish for the sleek and natural look once stained to your preferred choice.
Designing Timber Shutters
Once you’ve chosen from our range of paint finishes and timber stains, it’s time to consider the tilt system and design types. Our tilt systems include a middle or side-mounted louvre that allows for quiet closure or a barely visible design that delivers a clean and contemporary look with an unobstructed view through the open shutters. As for the design, you’ve got a choice between hinged, bi-fold, and sliding configurations. The standard option is hinged which is suitable for small to medium-sized windows. The bi-fold option creates space and allows a more seamless indoor/outdoor flow while the sliding system is most suitable for wider openings.
