The opening on this Caboolture job runs from floor to head height, which puts it in different territory to a standard window fit. Four white PVC plantation shutter panels were made up to cover the full span, each one split by a mid rail.
White PVC Plantation Shutters Across a Full-Height Caboolture Opening
The mid rail is the detail that matters most on an opening this tall. It splits each panel into two independently tilting banks of louvres, so the upper half can be angled open while the lower half stays shut. Looking out from inside, the top half of the opening catches the greenery and the neighbouring rooflines, while the bottom half looks straight onto the fence and the paved area beside the house. Being able to set those two halves differently is more useful here than it would be on a small window, where one tilt setting covers the lot.
White PVC was used throughout. Glass this size lets a lot of direct sun into the room, and the photo shows just how much light is coming through the louvres at the time it was taken. The white also holds a crisp line against the darker wall colour and the dark timber-look flooring, which is the main thing you notice standing in the room — the shutters are the light element in an otherwise dark space.

The frame was set square across the opening with a head trim finishing the top, so the run reads as a single piece rather than four panels butted together. Stiles line up across the width and the mid rails sit level from one panel to the next, which is what stops a wide set like this looking piecemeal.
